HCHS recently sent four delegates to Volunteer Girls State, a nonpartisan program offered annually to 500 of Tennessee’s rising seniors by the American Legion Auxiliary. On the campus of Lipscomb University, participants become citizens of fourteen cities, engaging in civic leadership and teamwork through an actualized government that elects its own city, county, and state officials.
Ella Bishop was elected city Mayor and then ran successfully for the House of Representatives, in which delegate-written bills on current state events are debated. She was also chosen Best Citizen by her city, qualifying her to compete for a scholarship in the coming year.
Congratulations to each of these young women for their outstanding representation of Hardin County High School!
